Understanding Our Site Structure
Dear Site Visitor,
Welcome to the Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) Web site. We are constantly working to improve our electronic presence while producing a user-friendly site that meets your needs. We have taken your suggestions for improving the site, while attempting to categorize all of the vital information from our various offices, sections, and programs that operate under DHH.
Keeping in mind that DHH is the largest agency in state government, we found it necessary to create a site plan for you to use. Understanding how the site is structured should help you find what you need or give you ability to contact the appropriate office to retrieve the information that may not be available online.
To make your visit as rewarding as possible, please allow us to give you a walk-through on how the site was planned. Here are a few of its many features:
- Top Navigation Bar - This bar is for global navigation throughout the site. From any office under DHH, you can move back to the main site area by selecting one of its links.
- Left Navigation Bar – Every office’s left navigation bar is unique to that specific office, allowing you to move around within that office and it’s sub-sections without having to move back into the main site area.
- Highlight Boxes on the right of homepages – These boxes are designed to handle the more “time-sensitive” information for the individual offices. Normally, you will see these boxes on homepages of the offices only. The common highlight boxes used are:
A few of the new features available on the site are:
- Complete Site Search – News releases, publications, contacts, reports, events, links, offices and locations are fully searchable. To get the best search results:
- Focus on one area from the list to the left of the search page
- Use specific search terms
- Try using one keyword as opposed to a whole sentence
- Site Map – Is the office listing of the entire website. If you click the magnifying glass along side of the office name, you get a complete listing of the contents of that office area.
- Calendar of Events – This module allows you to see what is going on in the various offices in relation to conferences, community meetings, committee meetings, state-wide fitness events, trainings, open enrollments, etc.
- Inquiry Form – allows your request to be forwarded directly to the person responsible for handling specific requests, based on the category you select.
- More Comprehensive News Releases – Now, news releases are sorted based on subject matter and date, which makes them easy to locate in the system.
- Printer Friendly Pages – clicking the print icon on the top right of pages, lends itself to simple formatted pages that will print the same from just about any printer, without the need to re-adjust your printer settings.
- E-Mail to a Friend or Colleague – Having e-mail set up on your computer is not needed, because now you can e-mail any page with the use of our system. Just fill in the information and select “Submit.”
- Data Driven – The site is now data driven and is comprised of frequently updated databases for more accurate information delivery.
These are the basic elements that make up the DHH Web site. We hope you enjoy your visit, find the information you are seeking, and come back soon. If at anytime, you feel the need to contact us, please do not hesitate to do so.
Sincerely, DHH Web Development Team
