Message From Dr. Louis Cataldie

Although these past weeks have been hard on all of us working in the Victim Identification Center, we all remind ourselves that it is those who have lost loved ones during this disaster who face real grief and suffering.

More than a thousand families have lost a loved one during the storms, and my heart goes out to each of them.

The DMORT team and my staff, as well as hundreds of volunteers from around the country, have been working night and day to help families recover and reunite with their loved ones. Some of the victims of the hurricanes have yet to be identified, and we are using every means we can to positively identify them and get them released to their families as quickly as possible.

This Web site has been developed to keep all interested people informed and up-to-date regarding the search for and identification of their loved ones. I am committed to reuniting each and every victim to his or her family, and I assure you we are working with the utmost respect, sensitivity and speed to get these answers to you.
