OFFICIAL RULES

• All entries must be digital; JPEG format is preferred.  Images are not to exceed 900 x 757 pixels @ 100 dpi.
• Photo must have a title, so that it can be easily identified.
• Individuals in the photo must be identified, and your photo must have a caption.
• When photograph is submitted, you imply consent for your work to be published electronically in the DHH newsletter.  You also imply that you have the consent of the individuals in the photograph for their images to be published electronically in the DHH newsletter.
• Photographs considered too graphic for the workplace will be immediately disqualified.
• Each month, the photo jury (made up of the editorial and design staff of the newsletter) will choose a winner. 
• There will be six monthly winners.
• Each month’s winning photograph will be published in the newsletter.  Due to size limitations, only the first 30 photos submitted in any given month will be posted to the Web site.  A link to the photos will be provided in the newsletter.
• If a photo is submitted, but is not chosen as a winner in the first month, it automatically will be considered in future months.
• At the end of six months, there will be two votes:
• First, employees will choose their favorite from the six finalists that were chosen by the jury.
• Then, employees will also be able to vote for their favorite photograph altogether, including the ones not chosen by the jury.
• The jury will judge the photos on the following components:
• Quality
• Clarity
• Composition
• Content
• If a photo is work-related, it will be given extra consideration.
• Photos must be e-mailed to the editor at jadams@dhh.la.gov  by 4:30 p.m. on the first day of each month to be considered for that month.   If the first falls on a weekend or holiday, the next workday will be the deadline. Instead of e-mail, you may also bring your entry to Bureau of Media and Communications (ninth floor, Bienville building) on a disk, USB key or CD.
