Louisiana OAD Guiding Principles
-
We will make a difference in people’s lives.
-
Addiction, substance use, abuse, dependence and their consequences are health care issues and must be seamlessly integrated into the comprehensive health care system without losing attention to the special needs of individuals, families, communities and the special skills of substance abuse prevention and treatment professionals.
- The system must be comprehensive, fully integrating prevention and treatment services.
- The needs of the individuals, families and communities determine the services of the system. As needs change, we will provide fluid and flexible responses, not reactions.
-
Individuals, families and communities will be welcomed into our system of care with a “no wrong door” approach.
- Through a cooperative spirit, we will seek partnerships and collaborations to fully meet the needs of individuals, families and communities.
-
We value and respect the dignity of individuals, families and communities that are served, and the workforce that serves them.
-
A dynamic system with changing needs requires fluid and flexible responses, not reactions.
These principles guide a clear and compelling vision for a continuum of care. Our commitment, enthusiasm, passion and pride, will be reflected in all our efforts as we continue to support each other in our important work.
