Description of Services:
The Acadiana Recovery Center is a division of the Department of Community Development within Lafayette Consolidated Government. It is a licensed residential and outpatient treatment program under the Department of Health and Hospitals, State of Louisiana. Funding for the Acadiana Recovery Center is provided through a State Contract with the Office for Addictive Disorders and offers residential and intensive outpatient treatment to adult men and women who suffer from chemical dependency. The Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Both programs are aimed toward helping to restore addicted men and women to a state of social, physical, spiritual, and financial well being. The Acadiana Recovery Center also provides intensive outpatient treatment to persons on probation, supervised release, or parole under the US Probation Office. This contract began October 1, 2000 and includes persons who are in halfway houses through the Bureau of Prisons.
The Acadiana Recovery Center makes every effort to encourage family/significant other to participate in the family program. This program is held every Tuesday night from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. and is led by a Board Certified Therapist. The Acadiana Recovery Center recognizes chemical dependency as a primary disease and that it is also treatable. We believe that the treatment includes didactic lectures, individual counseling, small group sessions, family education/conjoint sessions, recreational therapy, pastoral counseling, videos, and 12 step meeting attendance.
The Acadiana Recovery Center also enjoys ongoing partnership with Parks and Recreation within Lafayette Consolidated Government. This partnership began when Acadiana Recovery Center opened its doors in March, 1999. The Residential Clients attend a weekly recreational outing at one of the area recreation centers. In attendance with them is a Recreational Therapist from that Department who teaches the clients different games, activities all in the spirit of enhancing their recovery once they leave the treatment facility. The Residential Clients have also enjoyed the exposure to many cultural and religious events within the community through the generosity of many civic and cultural groups. The clients have enjoyed tickets to performances by the Acadiana Symphony, Corale Acadienne, Performing Arts Society of Acadiana (PAS), etc. Out clients have also on a regular basis, toured Vermillion Ville and the Jean LaFitte Center.
The Acadiana Recovery Center is looked upon as a Regional Treatment Facility for people within Region IV area, thus we treat people from an eight parish area including Lafayette parish. Approximately 85-90 percent of all admissions into the Inpatient Unit are people from within this 8 parish area.
The Mission of the Acadiana Recovery Center is:
To provide Hope and Healing for Individuals, Families and Communities endeavoring to recover from substance abuse and dependency.
Cost for this program is based on a sliding fee scale. This scale is in proportion with the income and the number of dependence of any given client. Therefore, no client can be denied services from this facility due to his/her inability to pay. Additionally, services are provided to all persons regardless of race, religion, sex, national origin, sexual preference, marital status or physical disability. Customary referral procedure for admission into the Acadiana Recovery Center Inpatient Treatment Program is facilitated via substance abuse clinics near the residence of the individual seeking admission. Admissions can be completed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, admissions are normally completed Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. thru 3 p.m.
