Sanitarian Services is primarily occupied with enforcing laws, rules and regulations for maintaining and promoting community hygiene; however they are increasingly orienting themselves to accomplishing their goals by education, enlightenment, and persuasion. Also included in the area is licensing and regulations for food and drug, retail food, disease vector, commercial seafood, infectious waste, export certificates, onsite wastewater, tanning facilities and commercial body art. |

Center for Records and Statistics operates a centralized vital-event registry, health-data analysis and dissemination program for the government and people of the State of Louisiana. The center collects, transcribes, compiles, and analyzes reports, preserves, amends, and issues vital records including birth, death, fetal death, abortion, marriage, and divorce certificates. The center is charged with operating the Louisiana Putative Father Registry, the Orleans Parish Marriage License Office, and with recording all adoptions, legitimations, and other judicial edicts that affect the state’s vital records. CRS also maintains the state’s health-statistics repository and publishes the Louisiana Vital Statistics Report, the Louisiana Health Report Card, the Louisiana Hospital Inpatient Discharge Database (LAHIDD) Report, and the Louisiana - Health at a Glance poster. The Center issues burial transit permits to licensed funeral directors statewide. The center also oversees Vital Records Customer Service which involves education and training services provided to the general public and to the initiators of vital event records. | |
