Permanent Supportive Housing Program Overview
The Louisiana Permanent Supportive Housing Program provides housing to persons with disabilities who have low incomes and need support in order to maintain housing and not become homeless or institutionalized. In the parishes of Orleans, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines, the Office of Aging and Adult Services has been designated as the Local Lead Agency responsible for operating the program.
Over the next several years approximately 2,000 units of Permanent Supportive Housing will be developed in the area served by the Metropolitan Human Services District. These are special apartments that come with supports for people with disabilities who have difficulty living successfully in the community. To be eligible for the housing and supports available through the program the household must meet three eligibility criteria
