11/20/2009 - Louisiana Medicaid Recognized as a National Best Practice for Administrative Efficiency - BATON ROUGE— Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Secretary Alan Levine today announced that the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has recognized Louisiana’s Medicaid program as a national best practice for its efforts to simplify and streamline the state’s Medicaid eligibility processes. Louisiana’s Medicaid program, which includes the Louisiana Children’s Health Insurance Program (LaCHIP), also shows significantly lower error rates overall than the national average, according to reports released by CMS.
 
11/17/2009 - Statement from DHH Secretary Alan Levine on Louisiana’s Improvement in the America’s Health Rankings - BATON ROUGE— DHH Secretary Alan Levine released the following statement today regarding Louisiana’s improvement in United Health Foundation’s America’s Health Rankings. The state increased from 50th to 47th, marking the state’s highest ranking in the 19 years the study has been published.
 
11/16/2009 - DHH Updates Status of Fight the Flu Campaign - BATON ROUGE - The Department of Health and Hospitals today updated the status of the state's Fight the Flu campaign. As the H1N1 vaccination campaign moves forward, it is important for Louisiana families to be patient if their provider has not yet received the H1N1 vaccine, as more vaccine is arriving every week. Residents should stay in contact with their provider as to the vaccine's availability and to make an appointment when the time comes.
