Illinois Health Care Cost Containment Council - was created in 1984 by the Illinois General Assembly (The
Illinois Finance Reform Act, Public Act 83-1243). Through a
uniform data-processing system, the agency collects,
analyzes and reports health care costs and utilization data
from Illinois hospitals. In July 1996, the agency's
authority was expanded and it was instructed to conduct a
two-phase pilot testing process by gathering current
outpatient data from a select group of hospital outpatient
clinics and freestanding ambulatory surgery centers. The
data collected during the pilot phases was used to produce
a report which was submitted to the General Assembly on
March 1, 1998. The General Assembly will use the report to
determine the nature of any further outpatient data
collection. |
