Sabine Parish Services

Education Services
The Department of Education works to ensure higher academic achievement for all students, eliminate achievement gaps and prepare students to be effective citizens in a global market. Services include:

Health Services
The Department of Health and Hospitals works to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all Louisianans. Services include:

• Medicaid - medical benefits for people with no or low income

• LaCHIP - low-cost or no-cost health care plans for uninsured children up to age 19

• WIC - supplemental nutrition, information and referrals for pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and children under 5 years old

• EarlySteps - informational services for children up to 3 years old at risk for developmental delays

• Mental Health Services - information, screening, referrals and some on-site services

Social Services
The Department of Children & Family Services works to ensure that Louisiana families, children and individuals are safe, thriving and self-sufficient. Services include:

• Child Care Assistance - helps pay for child care for parents to work or attend school
• Child Support Services - financial support for children by their non-custodial parent(s)
• Kinship Care Subsidy Program (KCSP) - cash assistance for children living with relatives
• Family Independence Temporary Assistance - temporary cash assistance to families (FITAP)
• Strategies to Empower People - assists FITAP clients with education and work activities
• Food Stamp Program - helps low-income households buy food needed for good health

• Earned Income Tax Credit - free income tax assistance for low-income workers

• Child Abuse, Neglect Behavioral Health Services

• Louisiana Rehabilitation Services - job training, medical or therapeutic services to help individuals with disabilities or who are deaf or blind to live independently

Workforce & Employment Services
The Louisiana Workforce Commission is committed to its vision of being an indispensable provider of workforce solutions. Services include:

• Job skills assessment, search, referrals, placement, interviewing skills
• Résumé assistance, cover letter preparation, computer assistance
• Information on financial assistance & Workforce Investment Act (WIA) funded training
• Adult education - literacy & GED information
• Youth education & skills training that lead to employment and retention
• Labor market information, local area occupation demand and trends data
• Free use of copiers, fax, & computers for employment-related tasks

Juvenile Justice Services
Office of Juvenile Justice

works to protect the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth, who will become productive, law-abiding citizens. Services include:

 

• Services for youth in Office of Juvenile Justice custody or supervision, who are involved in court proceedings
• Youth and parent meetings about cases
• Routine office visits and/or monthly contacts with youth & parents
• Probation and Parole Officers to input documentation in Office of Juvenile Justice electronic system
