Dementia Training for Health Professionals

Per an act of the 2008 Legislative session, dementia training is required for all staff in nursing facilities or adult residential care facilities licensed by the Department of Health and Hospitals and the Department of Children and Family Services.

In order to satisfy the requirement that the dementia training is “evidence based,” DHH entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Our Lady of the Lake College Health Career Institute to approve curricula for use in these facilities. The institute reviews curricula and certifies that the curricula meet legislative requirements.

Facilities may begin staff training as soon as they obtain an approved curriculum.

Application materials and descriptions of the curriculum requirements can be found at www.ololhci.com.
