OCDD is committed to developing tools to support the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities community (I/DD) in creating a sustainable delivery system that makes sense for people supported through the office's program. OCDD leadership have met with an array of I/DD advocates strategize on how best to address the budgetary challenges faced by the state. This collaborative effort has led to consensus on activities that will, if the office achieves its objective, serve to avoid rate reductions in an effort to mitigate any adverse impact on the system’s infrastructure and the people who receive services, and for those who are waiting.
It is incumbent on all of us to hold one another accountable as we strive to move people from a “service life” to a “community life”; moving forward we must ask – does this make sense for people, assuring that people live healthy, safe and happy lives?
