Non-Emergency, Non-Ambulance Medical Transportation Non-Emergency Medical Transportation providers are certified by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, Health Standards Section (HSS).  The NEMT program includes Friends and Family providers, municipal transit providers, and both non-profit NEMT providers.  However, this agency is only involved with certifying the nonprofit and profit providers.  In addition, all vehicles participating in the NEMT program are required to be certified by the Department.

The Non-Emergency, Non-Ambulance Medical Transportation program consists of vehicles capable of transporting both ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients (wheelchair vans) who do not require an ambulance.
