Adult Residential Care Provider "Adult residential care provider" means a facility, agency, institution, society, corporation, partnership, company, entity, residence, person or persons, or any other group that provides adult residential care for compensation to two or more adults who are unrelated to the licensee or operator. Adult residential care includes but is not limited to the following services: lodging, meals, medication administration, intermittent nursing services, assistance with personal hygiene, assistance with transfers and ambulation, assistance with dressing, housekeeping, and laundry. - RS 40:2166.3
There are four levels, of Adult Residential Care Providers (R.S. 40:2166.5(B) (11)):
Level 1 –Personal Care Homes – This is an Adult Residential Care Home/Facility that provides room and board and personal services for compensation, to two (2), but not more than eight (8) residents in a congregate living and dining setting.
Level 2 –Shelter Care Homes – This is an Adult Residential Care Facility that provides room, board, and personal services, for compensation, to nine (9) or more residents in a congregate living and dining setting.
Level 3 –Assisted Living Facilities – This is an Adult Residential Care Facility that provides room, board and personal services, for compensation, to two (2) or more residents that reside in individual living units which contain a minimum of one room with a kitchenette and private bathroom.
Level 4 – Adult Residential Care Provider - providing the following services: lodging, meals ,medication administration, intermittent nursing service, and assistance with personal hygiene, transfers, ambulation, dressing, housekeeping and laundry.
Licensure
Adult Residential Care Providers that advertises or markets themselves as an Alzheimer's Special Care Unit (ASCU) shall provide training in specialized care of residents who are diagnosed by a physician as having Alzheimer’s/dementia to all licensed and unlicensed staff who provide direct care to such residents. Said training shall be provided in accordance with the provisions established in 6867 of the Adult Residential Care Providers - Minimum Licensing Standards - Dementia Training Requirements (LAC 48:I.6803, 6851 and 6867)
