The LSU/WSTRMC Acute Psychiatric Unit provides services to adult males and females, 18 years of age or older. This is a closed eighteen (18) bed unit with a brief length of stay serving those consumers who are in a psychiatric emergency and in need of stabilization. Patients requiring intermediate hospitalization are transferred to Southeast Louisiana Hospital, Mandeville, LA.
After discharge a multi-disciplinary clinical team follows high risk, chronic consumers, who can benefit from support and rehabilitation services, as they become re-established into the community and the continuum of care.
