Ville Platte Mental Health Clinic is an outpatient psychiatric facility serving residents of Evangeline Parish. Evangeline Parish includes the following towns: Basile, Bayou Chicot, Chataignier, Lone Pine, Mamou, Pine Prairie, Point Blue, Reddell, St. Landry, Turkey Creek, Vidrine, and Ville Platte.
Established in the 1970s, Ville Platte Mental Health Center currently serves, on average, 500 patients which include adults, adolescents, and children. The target population consists of chronic mentally ill adults and emotionally and behaviorally disordered children and adolescents. Treatment team consists of one (1) part-time physician, one (1) part-time psychiatrist, two (2) clinical social workers, two (2) registered nurses, and one (1) social service counselor. Request for services are accepted from individuals, physicians, and other community agencies. Need for services are determined by eligibility criteria. Referrals are made elsewhere for individuals not meeting criteria. Cost of services is based on a sliding fee scale according to income. Services provided include psychosocial, psychological and psychiatric evaluations, individual and group counseling, medication management and crisis management. The Center also serves as a referral source for case management, mental health rehabilitation services and inpatient psychiatric services. Adults, adolescents and children who meet target populations are served.
Ville Platte Mental Health Clinics purpose is to uphold the mission and vision of OMH Region IV by helping individuals through their own recovery within their immediate environment and to reduce the rate of recidivism. Accessibility of services, person-centered treatment, cultural competency, community outreach and networking are at the forefront of effective service provision for residents of Evangeline Parish.

Take Ville Platte exit off I-49 headed west, follow Highway 10/167 to Ville Platte. Exit left on Reed Street. Follow Reed Street to Main Street; at Main Street take a left and go two blocks and take a right on Court Street. Follow Court Street; the clinic is located at 312 South Court Street, one block south of the courthouse and three blocks after exiting Main Street.
