Services Detail:

The Jonesboro Mental Health Clinic provides outpatient mental health services to residents of Jackson Parish. We serve the chronic and persistently mentally ill adults. Services are available to the severely emotionally and behaviorally disturbed youth age 5 and above. The clinic is staffed with Social Workers, Nurses, Counselor, Psychiatrist, Psychologist and other support staff who provide screenings, evaluations and counseling.  Crisis services are available. Referrals are made for inpatient psychiatric care, as needed. When appropriate, referrals are made to other Agencies providing services to the Office of Mental Health through contractual agreements.  Other referrals are made for those persons seeking services who do not meet the target population criteria. Fees for our services are based on income, family size, etc. Medicare, Medicaid and Private Insurance are accepted and billed.

Services Provided:

Screening – a brief history and review of symptoms to determine the most appropriate course of action: referral to other community resources or admission to clinic.

Assessments:

• Psychosocial – a comprehensive social history that informs the treatment planning process within a cultural context that is performed by a licensed clinician (social worker, professional counselor, RN) or someone under their supervision.
• Psychiatric – a comprehensive interview covering social and medical history, symptoms, mental status, etc. in order to form a working diagnosis that is performed by a psychiatrist (medical doctor specializing in psychiatry) or another professional under their supervision.
• Psychological – specific tests that can evaluate for a variety of psychological constructs: I.Q., personality functioning, neurological functioning, emotional symptoms, etc. that is performed by a licensed psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) or someone under their supervision.

Treatments:

• Individual Counseling – may include a variety of methods utilized by a licensed mental health professional or someone under their supervision with a single, identified client with a focus on the resolution of psychological/emotional symptoms and/or improved functioning according to treatment plan.
• Group Counseling – similar to individual counseling with the exception of other clients being included, offering the added benefit of the therapeutic interaction of the group.
• Medication Management – Monitoring of symptoms and side effects to evaluate the effectiveness of medication in the resolution or improvement of psychological/emotional symptoms that is generally performed by RN or M.D.

Contracted Services vary in availability throughout the region.  Examples of programs include: supported housing, employment, transitional living, residential, respite services, consumer care resources, transportation, case management, intensive outpatient, crisis services for children, Crisis Intervention Training program and others.  Please call for availability and criteria for access.
