The mission of the Dr. Joseph Henry Tyler, Jr. Mental Health Clinic (TMHC) is to provide quality care to individuals and families in the community who have serious mental health or co-occurring mental health/substance abuse needs. Driven by the needs of clients and families, services are culturally sensitive with a focus on the process of recovery and resiliency.
TMHC provides basic psychiatric services which include psychosocial, psychological, and psychiatric evaluations, individual and group counseling, crisis management, and medication management. Clients can be referred to contract agencies for case management, mental health rehabilitation services, day treatment, and assertive community treatment. If needed, clients can be referred for inpatient psychiatric care. The center serves adults as well as children and adolescents.
TMHC serves the parishes of Lafayette, upper Saint Martin, and eastern Vermilion. There are part time outreach clinics in Saint Martinville and Abbeville. No first time appointments are seen in the outreach clinics. Clients are seen at TMHC and are transferred to the outreach clinics as openings become available.
Fees are based on a sliding scale according to income and number of dependents. Medicare, Medicaid, and Private Insurance are accepted.
